About Ayurveda

Ayurveda has rightly emphasized that health is not only the state of not having disease but, it is the state of normalcy of Dosha, Dhatu, Agni and Mala kriya. It also includes the Prasanna Atma (soul), Indriya (sense organs) and Manas (mind).

The Total Ayurvedic treatments can be divided into three main divisions.
• Lifestyle modification and Diet therapy , after all no medicine can cure disease without specified diet.
• Ayurvedic medicines prescribed according to disease and to promote health.
• Ayurvedic Panchakarma Therapy

The basic Ayurvedic Principle behind Panchakarma:

According to ayurveda, due to the effect of atmosphere, weather, improper diet, and lifestyle habits etc, the toxins accumulate in the body. These toxins, in Ayurvedic term is called as ‘Ama’. These toxins – Ama, that enter into the body due to improper food such as Junk food, incompatible food (Viruddha Aahar) , food without hunger, water  without thirst /  sedentary lifestyle, irregular bowel habits , lack of exercise, some natural phenomena such as – seasonal variations , old age causing wear and tear in joints causing arthritis etc.

To re-word the term toxins, Ayurveda uses the word Tridosha – they are Vata, Pitta, Kapha,  which broadly represent the nervous system, the metabolic system and the nutritive system, keep the human body in balance. Whenever the delicate balance between these doshas is disturbed, a disease may be manifested. The main objective of the Ayurvedic system of treatment is to restore the original state of equilibrium between the doshas.

Now, either we have to bring back these high Tridosha down to normal state or we can throw that imbalanced Doshas out of the body.

To bring the Doshas into normal levels, we use oral medicines, Diet therapy and lifestyle modification. But if they have been vitiated to a large extent, better to get rid of them. This is done by Panchakarma treatment.
